AUDITIONS FOR YAAORCHESTRA

Grades 9-12 + Gap Year

Auditions for the YAAOrchestra are open to all instrumentalists in Grades 9-12 + Gap Year located in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.

Eligibility

Audition Registration

All auditions for the 2023-2024 school year season will be VIDEO AUDITIONS submitted online through our online portal: Acceptd.

Audition registration and video submission must be completed by Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 11:59pm EDT.

There is a $30 application fee. Please note that the fee is only required on your first application. For any subsequent applications, please enter the following coupon code in the payment section of the application: 02YAA23

Applicants can apply for a waiver to this application fee by submitting financial documentation to Acceptd. Please visit the Acceptd Support Desk for more information.

**Returning YAAOrchestra students can register directly at this link without an audition. Select “YAAOrchestra” and register via the Active portal.

Audition Requirements

Repertoire:

  • a Grade 5+ solo (without accompaniment)

  • ALL major scales

Acceptance

You will be notified if you have been accepted into the YAAOrchestra by e-mail by Sunday, September 10, 2023 by 10:00pm.

Those who are accepted into the YAAOrchestra will have to accept their position by paying their tuition no later than Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 11:59pm.

Location

All YAAOrchestra rehearsals will take place IN-PERSON in 2023-2024.

Regular rehearsals take place at our YAA@Churchill campus at Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, MD.

Season Repertoire

The YAAOrchestra will spend this school year season preparing two mainstage productions.

  • The Fall production will be performed in November 2023 at the Our Lady of Good Counsel High School in Olney, MD.

  • The Spring production will be performed in March 2024 at the Music Center at Strathmore.
