AUDITIONS FOR YAAjunior

Grades 6-8

Auditions for YAAjunior are open to all singers, actors, and dancers in Grades 6-8 located in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.

Our YAAjunior program runs for the entire school year, from September 2022 thru May 2023.

Eligibility

Audition Registration

Audition registration and video submission must be completed by Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 11:59pm EDT.

There is a $30 application fee. Please note that the fee is only required on your first application. For any subsequent applications, please enter the following coupon code in the payment section of the application: 02YAA01

Applicants can apply for a waiver to this application fee by submitting financial documentation to Acceptd. Please visit the Acceptd Support Desk for more information.

Audition Requirements

All auditions for the 2022-2023 school year season will be VIDEO AUDITIONS submitted online through our new online portal: Acceptd. A $30 registration fee is required.

Video Vocal Audition (ONLINE)

  • a musical theatre or jazz standard selection of your choice that best shows off your voice.

    • Ballad or uptempo are fine.

    • Complete song or 32-bar cut are both acceptable.

    • If you do not have a selection prepared, you can sing a pop song or another song of your choice, such as Happy Birthday or My Country ‘Tis of Thee.

Acceptance

You will be notified if you have been accepted into YAAjunior by e-mail by Sunday, September 11, 2022.

Those who are accepted into the YAAjunior will have to accept their position by paying their tuition no later than Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 11:59pm.

Students who are accepted into YAAjunior are automatically accepted into the Ensemble for the Spring Junior production. Students will be able to audition for solo opportunities, as well as roles in the JR production during the course of the year long program.

Location

All YAAjunior rehearsals will take place IN-PERSON in 2022-2023.

Regular rehearsals take place at our YAA@HolyCross campus at the Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington, MD.

Season Repertoire

YAAjunior will spend this school year season preparing two mainstage productions, as well as their own Junior production.

  • The Fall mainstage production will be performed in December 2022 at the Music Center at Strathmore.

  • The Spring mainstage production will be performed in April 2022 at the Music Center at Strathmore, as well as a second performance at a TBA venue.

  • The Spring Junior production will be performed in May 2022 at the Performing Arts Center at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School.
