The YAA KIDS Academy provides an introduction to musical theatre in a supportive and inclusive environment. Designed for the rising 4th and 5th grade student, all classes are taught by YAA’s exceptional teaching artists.

The week-long KIDS Academy program focuses on the basics of storytelling through movement, body awareness, singing, and acting, including:
instruction in dance, acting, and voice
theatre and singing games
performances by YAA teaching artists
talk-backs with the artists
Curriculum
The Setting
The 140-acre wooded campus at Sandy Spring Friends School, in Northern Montgomery County, Maryland, featuring a state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center, fully-equipped 300-seat proscenium theater, dance studio, and multiple rehearsal rooms. Optional School Bus service available. Recreational activities include swimming, zip-lining, and more!

Financial Aid
Scholarship/Financial Aid:
Those who wish to be considered for a scholarship or financial aid need to submit a financial aid application form to us no later than Friday, March 6, 2020.

Attendance is mandatory for all participants and their families.
Tuition
KIDS Academy
$695 per one-week session
Payment:
A deposit of $200 is due upon registration (refundable until February 29, 2020).
2nd payment of half of the remaining balance is due by April 1, 2020 (non-refundable).
Final balance due on June 1, 2020 (non-refundable).
Tuition Includes:
All Academy classes, rehearsals and masterclasses with resident and visiting faculty
Daily hot lunch in the Dining Hall (Monday thru Friday)
Daily snack
Roundtrip bus transportation
Bus stops include: NW DC, Bethesda, Rockville, Kensington, Takoma Park, Gaithersburg, Clarksburg, Columbia, and Burtonsville
Outdoor recreational activities
A parents’ day for friends and family on the final afternoon of the program.
