Young Artists of America at Strathmore (YAA) trains student performing artists (grade 5-12) in collaboration with leading, professional artists. Our students can choose from myriad programming ranging from performance ensembles that culminate in fully-staged productions at state-of-the-art venues to multi-disciplinary training and enrichment classes designed for all students from beginner to pre-professional, to free, virtual community workshops taught by our region’s top faculty open to all ages and levels.

We are one of the only programs of its kind that brings in professional mentors from Broadway and beyond to work directly with our students. Our talented students have worked with the likes of Kristin Chenoweth, Julie Andrews, Alan Menken, Tim Rice, Stephen Schwartz, and many more.

See for yourself! Browse our staged-productions recorded at state-of-the-art venues like our home stage of The Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, Maryland, as well as The Clarice at University of Maryland, and The Kennedy Center’s Millenium Stage to name a few.

We help our students find their creative voice through music theatre disciplines including singing, instrumental and dance. We offer programming for students starting in 5th grade continuing to post-college, pre-professional levels. With the on-set of the pandemic, much of our programming is virtual, so students are not limited by geography for certain programming. Explore how you can join our YAA family below through auditions and performance ensembles (open winter, spring, fall semesters), classes (open enrollment), attending a performance, or becoming a financial supporter.
