YAA offers Enrichment Classes in musical theatre to allow students to expand their knowledge and training, all while having fun!
YAAEnrichment Classes are included at no additional charge for students enrolled in other YAA programs. These classes are also open to the community for an affordable fee.

YAAEnrichment Classes are open to students in Grades 5-12 + College.
DANCING THROUGH MUSICAL THEATRE
All ages and levels welcome.
Saturdays, 11:00am-12:00pm ET
Eight 1-hour classes per semester
Tuition:
$95 for 8 classes (1 semester)

Instructor: Trent Soyster
Class Description
Learn specialized technique and exercises that will provide a firm foundation for dance specific to a specific era of the American Musical Theater.
Led by YAA Teaching Artist, Trent Soyster, curriculum for each class will include a warmup, some musical theatre history, as well as learning a combo from the musical theatre canon.
Each week will feature history and dance styles from a different era of the American Musical Theatre.

mind & body CONDITIONING
All ages and levels welcome.
Sundays, 4:00-5:00pm ET
Eight 1-hour classes per semester

Instructor: Maddie Rodrigue
Class Description
Finding a healthy mind-body and work-life balance are key skills for everyone, and especially for the young aspiring artist.
Join YAA teaching artist and Radio City Rockette, Maddie Rodrigue, each week for Mind and Body Conditioning.
Each class will be structured with a mindfulness check-in and discussion to promote a sense of community in a virtual setting. Physical activities such as yoga, strengthening, dance cardio, and conversations on navigating artistic setbacks, nutrition, and mental health will vary each week and will be tailored to fit the needs of each class.
In light of unforeseen circumstances, and in facing the highs & lows of these times, tune in on Sundays to “dance it out.”

Guided MINDFULNESS for performers
Sundays, 3:45-4:00pm ET
(right before Mind & Body Conditioning)
Eight 15-minute sessions per semester
Tuition:
$25 for 8 sessions (1 semester)
FREE for currently registered YAA students
Instructor: Kristofer Sanz
Class Description
Too often performers forget that mental preparation and focus is necessary when preparing to perform or practice their craft.
Through a 10-15 minute guided mindfulness practice led by YAA Music Director, Kristofer Sanz, students will learn how to quiet their minds, turn off outside distractions, and use their breath to slow down their heart rate and bring clarity and focus to their mind, body and spirit.
Through the practice of mindfulness, students will develop the tools necessary to step back and respond to their ever changing environments in a positive and healthy way.

Minors are welcome to participate in YAA’s virtual programming under the supervision of a parent/guardian. Just as with its in-person classes, YAA reserves the right to record virtual sessions for archival and YAA promotional uses, and by registering you consent to such recording and use.
